No pun intended - not sure what you might think of this. Relationship movies with horror elements ... add to that a location that is not the easiest. And then two characters whom you may not really feel close to. They have their issues, but do we care? I reckon you do not have to - just remember this is a low budget movie.

The movie has some really solid scenes - where as a viewer you are being reeled in (if you watch the whole thing open minded of course). It also has scenes that will feel like a let down for sure. The acting is ok overall, same goes for dialog. Cinematography works too throughout. I understand that technically most movies have improved anyway - still I have seen worse. It may not be able to always deliver on its premise/title but often enough - be afraid then.

GF and BF get lost in the woods. They hallucinate things. Their phones don't work, duh. Maybe something supernatural is happening?

Bring out the Fear focuses almost entirely on its two characters, probably for budget reasons, and there's nothing wrong with that; when you have limitations, it's smart to build your film around them. But if the bulk of your film is about two characters and their interactions, at least one of them has to be likable. BotF's characters are not; worse, they're *bland*, not even interestingly unlikable.

Unfortunately, it is very hard to care what happens in BotF. Yes, something creepy is happening, but what's it matter? It's okay with me if these people die, and it's okay if they don't; they seem about as interesting as an overheard phone conversation on public transit. Maybe they're too realistic.

Sound/score are good though. And they do what they can with a clearly very limited budget, at least in terms of filming. It's just that they forgot to give us a reason to care about anybody in the film.

It is a convoluted mess. There is no real plot, I believe they were trying for symbolism, but don't quite understand symbolism.

Spoiler alert- A man forgives his girlfriend for cheating and takes her for a hike in the woods and proposes. She turns him down and says "we should work through our problems first". He agrees. Then the whole movies is trees making creaky noises, while they show, I guess what are suppose to be scary, twigs and branches, and the occasional monster growling while a couple stumbles through a forest that they can't get out of.

Then a bunch of magic, like people appearing then disappearing. No explanation for why this is happening. The boyfriend disappears. Then she finds his engagement ring and puts it on, and is found and goes home! Then she takes it off and oh no! She's in the magic forest with scary twigs and branches again!

We're then again focused on the women trying to find her boyfriend or get out, with the scary twigs and branches. Then she finds him! For no explainable reason, he attacks her, trying to force the ring on her finger, which for some reason she doesn't want now. She then brutally kills him. The women then gets out of the magic woods with scary branches and goes home. Oh, but wait, creaky tree noise, maybe she"s not!

I've just given you the whole plot.

A ridiculous waste of my time. I can't think of a more poorly written movie.
