Smuggling potheads

Movies based on a true story always have more of my attention then others. And when they are well made like this one then you can't go wrong watching it. The story of a couple of potheads trying to make money by importing top of the league marijuana from Canada to the United States. An easy but also dangerous way of getting rich in no time. They should stop when they had enough but once you get so much money you only want more. It makes you wonder why the government doesn't just legalize the whole thing and make a sh*tload of money out of it. Plus it's just weed, nothing bad at all about that, not like alcohol that destroys more lives then you could imagine. Anyways, I enjoyed the whole movie, all actors were good and the story was good as well. I recommend it!

EVERY CHUNK OF COAL WANTS TO BE A DIAMOND

Nate Norman (Jonathan Daniel Brown) is a drop out pizza delivery boy in northern Idaho. He helps out his single mom who struggles as a waitress. As an avid reader of High Times, he knows he can score great pot in Canada and utilize the easy walk across the border to transport it into Idaho. He manages to get a financial backer (Ron Perlman) and assembles a team of his high school buds...pun intended.

Unfortunately Nate is an amateur at the game. He steps on the toes of his competitor, flaunts his wealth, and has an inner circle with no loyalty.

The film is based on a true story, one without a financial backer. Norman claims he simply expanded the business with the profits from the previous crossing. The movie has the look and feel of a teen sex romp with all the women in northern Idaho being tens.

Other than being based on a true story, there is really nothing to separate it from the pack.

Okay s a rental.

Parental Guide: F-bomb, sex, nudity including male frontal.

A low budget teenage 'Blow (2001)' that delivers

Now when I say "teenage 'Blow (2001)'" I don't mean as it's juvenile and adults won't find anything of value here, quite the opposite actually.

The movie feels very adult, plenty of swearwords and nudity and such and a typical Scorcese like voice-over (without ever feeling cheesy or unnatural) and a good story and competent acting.

Jonathan Daniel Brown is very good in the lead but my favorite performance comes from Aaron Yoo as a menacing rival of his.

The only 'bad thing' I can say is that, it could have dug deeper into the characters; the female characters are all pretty empty and most are only there for eye-candy and the movie is low budget and it shows and feels like it was shot in a couple weeks at the most.

Comparing it to 'Blow (2001)' might get your hopes a little too high I know realise, it doesn't have the feeling of a epic trials and tribulations of a drug kingpin which that had but I mean it's definitely above average when it comes to these sorts of movies.

And it most definitely entertains from start to finish with plenty of humor to go with the based on a true story.

7.5/10, a stellar recommendation.
