I wasn't expecting that, very entertaining, if long.

It felt as though we were never going to get to see this, but finally it's here, the question is, was it worth the wait?

The answer, yes, really not what I was expecting, of course it's action packed, dramatic and high octane, but it actually boasts a good story, and perhaps shows us a slightly different side to the character.

Plenty of action, plenty of style, and a real twist.

I thought Daniel Craig was awesome, and here he shows what a great Bond he has been, it's fascinating now to know who'll take over.

On the downside, it was a bit long, and it did lull a little in parts, but the action was enough to halt any dozing.

Overall, very watchable, 8/10.

The most soap operish Bond movie ever

(2021) No Time To Die ACTION DRAMA

The most soap-opera-ish James Bond movie of the franchise, which opens with a man wearing a mask walking through the snow bank into a home to achieve his objection, and he kills the mother of a child in cold blood before he starts looking for the daughter. Before he fires toward the little girl, she successfully shoots him down first and thinks she has killed him, and she begins to drag him back out to the snow bank and it was at this point, as soon as she notices he was still alive, she then runs away as soon as he stands up, and while running across the icy lake she then breaks and falls through the ice before going under. The man wearing the mask looks like he was going to shoot her, but he shoots directly at the ice to save the little girl. The movie then jumps to many years later and viewers now realize that the little girl the mask man used to save, near the opening is of right now the current flame of Bond (Daniel Craig) spending his time on and her, and that her name is Madeline Swann (Léa Seydoux), and that from the previous movie Spectre of one of many movie revelations we are to witness is that Blofield is her dad. And like, although Bond is supposed to be retired, he is still sought after, as it's the new adventure that involves Madeline Swann he was supposedly went their separate ways. Revealing a new villain the world is facing, his name is Lyutsifer Safin (Rami Malek) after a very deadly poison created in the UK with M (Ralph Fiennes) funding the project.

Ian Fleming may be rolling over his grave if this is what the audience want from the character he created. The campy and fun Bond movie ends with "Die Another Day", the idea created by Ian Fleming has been rebooted with the new Bond of this generation, which is like any soap opera I had ever seen. Have both the movie critics and the audience have become so tired of Ian Fleming's character so much, that after many years he needed an entirely new persona! I mean, I can do the exact same thing by making additions Fleming never considered into doing, such as, perhaps Bond has a twin sister or a twin brother he never knew about, or that Blofield had another sibling or perhaps another child from wedlock. Or that both Blofield and Bond had deceptive uncles or cousins they never knew about. It is these liberties author and 'creator', Ian Fleming had never asked for nor had ever approved about, says more about the state of it's current audience than it says about him.

What's gone wrong with Bond?

It's slow, it's serious, it's moody, it's sulky. It's the trend for the last few Bonds and one I personally don't like. I don't know if this is the writers', the producers' or just Daniel Craig's interpretation, but I find the recent Bonds have lost the one element that always made them great - the fun. Despite his huge ego, James Bond never took himself too seriously (until Daniel Craig appeared). A little joke here, a cheesy line there, a double-entendre to make the parents laugh. Why can't James Bond smile anymore?

Moving on from the more general to this specific film, I found the opening sequence extremely disappointing - one thing you can always rely on is a stunning opening action sequence, but not in this one. It's slow, overly drawn out, like the whole film really. Why make a nearly 3 hour Bond when the storyline isn't there to support it?

Yes some of the actions scenes are decent, Q as ever steals the show (and provides some of the few lighter moments) and the villains are great, but sadly for me this is the worst of the new franchise and they have been steadily regressing ever since the Casino Royale which showed promise.
